Singapore Association of Mental Health

Singapore Association of Mental health's (SAMH)'s webpage.
Singapore Association for Mental Health was established in December 1968 to promote mental wellness and to empower people with mental illness in rebuilding their lives. It is a voluntary welfare organisation (non-government and non-profit), which seeks to promote the social and mental well-being of the people of Singapore. More specifically, the organisation aims to promote mental health, prevent mental illness, improve the care and rehabilitation of persons with mental illness, and to reduce the misconception and social stigma that surround mental illness.
Daren Lauchengco's blog
Daren Lauchengco is a freelance illustrator who has been struggling with depression since age 16. Now, 39 years, married with 2 boys, he is currently going through treatment for Bipolar Disorder, an illness diagnosed not until recently.Daren's works represent his journey through his personal struggle at the most darkest period in his life.It is, put simply, his visual journal.Through his works, the artist hopes to shed some positive light on mental health and the importance for early treatment of depressive disorders.
kHEARTs
kHEARTs is a social entreprise that seeks to provide a sustainable income for the members at Simei Care Centre, a rehabilitation centre for those who are recovering from mental health illness. It is managed by a team S.A.N.E ~Simply A Nice Expression of 4 students from the National University of Singapore. The venture first started out under the Citibank-YMCA Youth for Causes 2007 competition, which is an event under the umbrella of President's Challenge 2007.
As a long term project, they have initiated plans for the members of the centre to construct handmade paper products, in an effort to provide the members of the centre with a sustainable source of income through the sales of their crafts.
